KELVIM PITCHES A GEM
Kelvim Escobar pitched seven strong innings to lead the Angels to a 3 to 1 victory over the New York Yankees to take the first two of a three game series over the Bronx Bombers. Chien-Ming Wang pitched a gem for the Yankees. Wang pitched eight innings, giving up only six hits. His only rough inning came in the first when he gave up three runs. Those three runs where enough to cost Wang and the Yankees the game. The reason was Kelvim Escobar was pitching a gem of his own. Kelvim gave up six hits and only one run. The win gave Kelvim his sixth win with only two loses. When Escobar is on his game, he's the hardest to hit of all the Halo starters. That's saying a lot with the starters the Angels have.
I can't help but laugh at some of the comments some of the Yankee fans are making about the so called "wide" strike zone the umpire had today. I know that Yankee fan is frustrated about how the season is going so far but, can't you give Kelvim Escobar, Scot Shields, and Frankie Rodriguez any credit ? Just because a Yankee doesn't swing at a pitch doesn't mean it's not a strike. Wang got a few called strikes today too. OH YA, those where great pitches, not bad calls. Besides, it was a nice change. Usually teams like the Yankees and Red Sox have strike zones the size of a postage stamp. How does it feel to have a strike zone like the rest of the teams in the league ?
With the win today the Angels pulled ten games over 500 and are on pace to win 90 plus games. If the Halos win on Sunday their road record will be an even 14 and 14. After the first road trip in which their road record started off 1 and 7, getting to 500 on the road is a huge step in the right direction.
John Lackey goes Sunday for the Angels against Mike Mussina. If Lackey gets the win, it will be his eighth. It's a little early but, the Cy Young award may be in Lackey's future. Go get em John. And go get em Angels !
JUST ANOTHER HALO VICTORY !!! ( ANGEL RECORD 30 WINS - 20 LOSES )

LOVED that game, especially Reggie WHAT-YOU-TALKIN'-BOUT Willits' Spiderman impression to rob the Yanks of a HR! That guy really should have made the "league leaders" list for his batting average, IMO. MLB.com says a guy has to have "3.1 plate appearances per game played" to qualify his average for the list, so I was calculating his daily there for awhile and he actually was at something like within a couple hundreds of a point while his avg. was still around 340. The guy's been getting robbed, I tell ya.

I heard a guy from sports center say Reggie "WHAT-YOU-TALKIN-BOUT" Willits. He took my line !!! It's o.k. I know I came up with it first. It's on record. As long as Reggie keeps playing the way he is. Thats all that matters.
